“PARIS IS BURNING” DOCUMENTARY SCREENING
Presented by Sudbury Indie Cinema
If you didn’t get a chance to check out PARIS IS BURNING (1990) during Queer North Film Festival, this is your chance to redeem yourself! Indie Cinema has the re-mastered 4K version Sundance winner documentary and they are playing it again for YOU.
Paris Is Burning was filmed in the mid-to-late 1980s and chronicles the ball culture of New York City and the African-American, Latino, gay, and transgender communities involved in it. Some critics consider the film to be an invaluable documentary of the end of the “Golden Age” of New York City drag balls, and a thoughtful exploration of race, class, gender, and sexuality in America.
